Justice Julie Vargas was appointed to the New Mexico Supreme Court in December 2020 by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. Prior to her appointment, Julie served as a Judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals, after being elected to that position in 2016. She must now run in the 2022 election keep her seat on the NM Supreme Court.
Julie, a life-long Democrat and native New Mexican, was born and raised in Old Town, Albuquerque, where she continues to live. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, but was anxious to return to New Mexico, its 300 days of sunshine every year, and its warm people. Julie received her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1993.
We are pursuing public financing under the NM Voter Action Act, which allows small donations from NM-registered voters not to exceed $100 per donor.
